With the best and most effective healing products on the market! If you’re not quite sure what they are and how to use them, you’ve come to the right place. We here at the Anushka Spa & Salon, West Palm Beach happen to know of an amazing product we’re super excited about and can’t wait to share with you! Read on and discover the most effective aftercare instructions, and the product those of us with tattoos just couldn’t live without!

Hands Off!

Now that you’ve braved the needle and your new ink is on you forever, you’ll want to make sure it looks great on your skin. Therefore, picking, scratching, and excessive touching is strictly prohibited during the healing process! Scratching your new tattoo if and when the area itches or picking at dead skin that may form will only serve to damage your skin the tattoo itself. It can even disturb the ink making your design look a lot less crisp and clean that it did originally. We know it’s tempting and heck, sometimes you’ll not even realize you’ve done it, but try as much as possible to avoid contact with that gorgeous new ink until its fully healed!

Additionally, though friends and family will be rightly wowed by the new addition to your skin, make sure they keep their hands far away from it until it’s healed over to prevent any infection!

Limit Your Sun Exposure

We all know the sun can cause irreversible damage to our skin and that’s a big problem at the best of times. Imagine what it could do to sore skin and tattoo healing! To avoid that problem altogether, it’s best to cover up in the sun and limit the time your skin is under direct sunlight. As we know that’s not always totally possible, make sure to keep the Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 100+ with you at all times. This will make sure you’re fully protected in the sun even when you can’t find a good patch of shade!

Taking Care Of Tattoos Under Clothing

Unless it’s on your hand, wrist or your face, it’s likely your fresh tattoo is going to come into direct contact with your clothing, often for long periods of time. This is, of course, unavoidable for most of us, therefore we need to take steps to protect our new tattoo when it happens! Firstly, your best option is to go for breathable fabrics like cotton after a new tattoo. Tight clothing and naturally scratchy fabrics like wool are best left in your closet until your skin’s had time to heal! Likewise, when you go to sleep, opt for loose fit pajamas so they don’t rub on your skin whilst you catch those Z’s. Finally, if you have to wear jeans that cover your new tattoo, go for loose-fitting ones, not skinny jeans!

Take Care Of Your Skin

Taking care of our skin is important under any circumstances but especially so when we’re caring for a new tattoo. Though it will heal in time, remembering that your skin has had some recent trauma will help you to heal the area faster. Drink plenty of water and use mild, fragrance-free soaps to clean the area. Pro tip – make sure you’ve washed your hands before cleaning your tattoo and only use your hands to do so, cleaning it with a loofah or sponge, for example, can be risky as they often carry unseen bacteria!

Whilst your tattoo is healing and before you switch back to your favorite fragrant soaps, try the Aveeno Skin Relief Fragrance-Free Body Wash.

Which Healing Products Are Right For You

As with any new product, finding the right one for you and your skin can be a tricky process, especially if this is your first tattoo. You’ll usually need to shop around and try a fair few out before you find the right one. However, we are here to recommend the best, most innovative skincare solutions out there just for you! If you’ve done your research or you’ve had a tattoo previously, it’s likely you’ve heard of Hustle Butter. Hustle Butter is a 100% vegan replacement for all petroleum-based products and one that tattoo artists love. What’s so great is these products are suitable for use before, during and after the tattoo process!

iS clinical product

We Recommend

Though there are, of course, other products we love, like Hustle Butter, we absolutely must tell you about iS Clinical Sheild Recovery Balm by iS Clinical. This is hands down one of our favorite iS Clinical products. It’s so perfect for aiding the recovery time of your new tattoo as it provides an antioxidant-rich barrier that hydrates dry, raw and sensitive skin. It also relieves any tightness or itching you may experience whilst decreasing inflammation, minimizing the formation of scar tissue and even controlling pain due to the local anesthetic effects of its key ingredients. If all of this wasn’t enough, iS Clinical Sheild Recovery Balm is also great for preventing fine lines and encouraging anti-aging in harsh climates or cold climates! Apply it as many times a day as instructed and be wowed at its instant and long term healing effects on your newly tattooed skin!
