Wispy Bangs Might Be The Change You Need
Seeing as the world’s been mostly staying indoors for the past year, it’s not surprising so many of us are itching for a change. Our makeup routines have been unrecognizable or nonexistent, loungewear has become our new office wear, and our locks have grown longer than they’ve been since kindergarten! If there was ever a time to change things up, it’s now. But how?
As you might have guessed from the title, we have a suggestion for you. Whether you’ve already lopped off your lockdown lengths or you’re unwilling to part with your newly Rapunzel-Esque tresses, this style will work for you. And, you can trust us, it’ll definitely be the shake-up you’ve been looking for.

Inspiration For Your Wispy Bangs
We don’t know about you but, every time we consider a new haircut, looking for inspo pictures is one of our favorite parts! From celebrity styles to Pinterest icons, there’s no shortage of amazing wispy bangs out there.
If you’re currently on the search for your perfect wispy bangs look, we can help with some of our fave celebrity examples. Firstly, there’s Taylor Swift. We’ve admired her beautiful blond locks for years which she perfectly compliments with an array of styled bangs. Though Taylor of course looks amazing with every type from curly to curtain style bangs, there’s no denying her classic wispy bangs are inspirational.
Also, we’re eternally smitten with wispy bangs worn by Dakota Johnson (who isn’t?), Hailey Bieber, Selena Gomez, and Elizabeth Olsen. Take a look at these famous ladies’ bangs for inspiration and you’re sure to find the style of your dreams. Will you go for Hailey’s longer, more spaced out bangs, or, do Elizabeth’s shorter, eyelash grazing bangs peak your interest? The options are endless but these examples are a great place to start!
Who Will Suit Wispy Bangs?
Now for the big question. Who suits wispy bangs?! After all, you wouldn’t want to go through all of this just to find out in the salon chair this cut absolutely isn’t for you! You may have even heard that only those with oval-shaped faces and heart-shaped faces are good candidates for wispy bangs. We don’t agree.
In fact, we’re pretty certain wispy bangs suit literally everybody, and here’s why.
Firstly, they’re super light and feathery and therefore they won’t take away from any existing shape. Instead, they can be easily styled to compliment your current cut rather than working against it as thicker bangs can often do. This soft texture is also what makes them perfect for almost every hair length. Wispy bangs will work whether your locks are extra long or you’re rocking a short cut.
They can be cut shorter for those with bobs and lobs, or take on more of a curtain shape for those with lengthier tresses. Totally versatile and surprisingly easy to manage! More on that later…
Will Wispy Bangs Work With My Hair Texture?
From thick hair to fine hair and curly hair to straight hair, wispy bangs are the ideal introduction to bangs. Though their style and overall look will differ depending on your natural hair texture, they work amazingly well for pretty much every hair type in ways that styles like blunt bangs just can’t.
Wear them straight, wear them curly, they’ll work either way!
Why Should I Get Wispy Bangs?
In our opinion, having wispy bangs creates an instant element of intrigue when it comes to your haircut. They draw attention to your eyes, they can draw attention to your cheekbones, and they also add a great amount of dimension and texture to virtually every haircut!
Are Wispy Bangs High Maintenance?
Look, we’re not going to lie to you, any type of bangs you get will involve some maintenance. You’ll need time to adjust to your new look and learn about styling them in a way that works for you. However, if you’re looking for bangs that require the least amount of styling, wispy bangs are for you.
How Do You Style Wispy Bangs?
Now that you’ve either gotten or decided to get wispy bangs, you’ll be wanting to know how to style them, right?
Well, you’ll be glad to know that wispy styles of bangs really aren’t too tricky to handle. That goes for whether you’re blow-drying them after washing or looking for a refresh in between.
After washing, drying your bangs is a speedy process…
Firstly, don’t wait to dry them after getting out of the shower. If your hair has a natural wave or curl to it, your bangs will be past saving by the time you comb them through!
Next, separate your bangs from the rest of your hair and gently comb them out. Add a spritz of anti-humidity spray to prevent frizz from occurring. Our absolute favorite is the Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray by Oribe.
Now, with your blow dryer on low to medium heat, use a round brush to lift your hair from underneath. Curl the strands around the brush as you go. This will add lift and bounce to wispy bangs. Meanwhile, the moderate heat setting will dry your bangs slowly enough that they’ll mimic the shape of your brush. We recommend going for a small or medium-sized round brush too. Larger ones may result in a little too much volume!
In between washes, it’s amazing what a little dry shampoo applied at the roots can do. Add instant volume plus a freshly washed look and scent to your bangs. We think this is such a good tip, we sometimes even apply a little for added bounce and style soon after washing and drying! Our absolute favorite is the Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray by Oribe from Anushka Spa & Salon.
